Problem:

Tramp iron in processing lines was causing high machinery maintenance expense, shutdowns and fire hazards at the Cracker Jack Company (now Frito-Lay), in Chicago, IL, USA.

Solution:

Eriez Plate Magnet Separators were installed in chutes leading to storage hoppers for the corn poppers. Catching and holding all of the tramp iron reduced expenses. Also, the hazards were virtually eliminated.
